Properties in La Manga del Mar Menor

La Manga del Mar Menor is a beautiful area which houses the Mar Menor (small sea). This is a very large salt water lagoon as the La Manga strip creates a separation between this and the Mediterranean sea. Lining one side of the Mar Menor are small villages which stretch from San Javier in the north to Cabo de Palos in the south. The other side is La Manga strip which is a stretch of land approximately 21km from top to bottom. The top end does not quite join with the mainland creating a gateway from the Mediterranean to the Mar Menor lagoon itself. This small sea creates a perfect area for all types of water sport as it has warm shallow waters with hardly any waves. There are miles and miles of soft golden sandy beaches with very warm temperatures most of the year. The region has the lowest average rainfall making it a brilliant spot for holidays throughout the year. The area is largely unspoilt and still very traditional in its ways. There are many good fish restaurants and lots of traditional cafes and bars serving a huge selection of various tapas dishes at very affordable prices. The traditional menu of the day is served in many establishments and generally you have a few choices for each of the 3 courses with a drink, bread and salad included for around 10 euros. There are many markets on varying days of the week where you can buy fresh produce, much of it grown locally. There are many activities that can be done within the Mar Menor area such as diving, snorkelling, sailing, horse riding, go karting, cycling, hiking, tennis or golfing are just some of what is on offer. Maybe you prefer to pamper yourself enjoying a massage or facial on any of the beauty salons in the area. There are several bodegas where you are able to sample some of the regions finest wines...or even have a glass or two on the beach front in one of the villages along with some tasty tapas.
